Sinner Moves Up to No. 2 in ATP Rankings Following Impressive Performance

Italian tennis stars Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Musetti emerged victorious in their first-round matches at the Monte Carlo Masters on Tuesday, setting up a potential clash in the third round.

Berrettini, seeded sixth, defeated Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia 6-3, 6-3 in just over an hour and a half. The 26-year-old displayed his trademark power and precision, hitting 23 winners to his opponent's 13.

Musetti, the 19-year-old rising star, overcame American Taylor Fritz 7-5, 6-3. The young Italian showcased his exceptional footwork and shot-making skills, hitting six aces and winning 80% of his first-serve points.

In other notable developments, Jannik Sinner, who had a first-round bye, moved up to No. 2 in the ATP rankings following Carlos Alcaraz's early exit. Sinner is now the highest-ranked Italian player and is considered one of the favorites to win the title in Monte Carlo.

The second round of the tournament will commence on Wednesday, with Berrettini facing Jaume Munar of Spain and Musetti taking on Aslan Karatsev of Russia. Sinner is set to open his campaign against Laslo Djere of Serbia.
