Annual festival coming soon to Culpeper

The 38th annual Culpeper Oktoberfest will be held from Sept. 22-24 at the Culpeper County Fairgrounds. The annual festival will feature German food, music, beer, and fun. There will also be a variety of vendors and activities for all ages.

The festival will kick off on Friday, Sept. 22 with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. followed by the opening of the biergarten and food court. The festival will continue on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission to the festival is free. However, there will be a charge for food, drinks, and some activities. For more information, visit the Culpeper Oktoberfest website or call 540-825-4416.

Applications now open for Culpeper Town Council

The Town of Culpeper is now accepting applications for two vacant seats on the Town Council. The seats are currently held by Mayor Mike O'Brien and Vice Mayor Susie Smith, who are both up for reelection in November 2024.

To be eligible to run for Town Council, candidates must be at least 18 years old, a resident of the Town of Culpeper for at least one year, and a registered voter. Candidates must also file a petition with the Town Clerk's office by 5 p.m. on Sept. 29, 2024.

Culpeper County Public Library to host author talk

The Culpeper County Public Library will host an author talk with New York Times bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand on Sept. 29, 2024 at 7 p.m. Hilderbrand will discuss her latest novel, "The Hotel Nantucket," and answer questions from the audience.

Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased online or at the library's circulation desk. Proceeds from the event will benefit the library's programming fund.
